The Caves

There are many that are drawn to mountains.
The higher the ascension the higher the sense of glory.
The higher the climb up the more self pride in the feat.
For in the heights a mountain climber believes is the light of glory.
In the heights of mountains are the birds, the Sun, and the Heavens.
On the tops of mountains is where wisdom is found and where God writes on stones.
But wisdom is also found elsewhere.
Yes, there is another direction that few desire to go and the fruits are even sweeter.
To the depths of darkness and to the cracks of caves.
For where some are drawn to climb mountains, others are called to decend.
To a few that hear the invite of God they go down deeper and deeper into the depths.
Deeper into fear.
Deeper into darkness.
Deeper into the unknown.
To the few called to decend they are brought low.
For in lowness is the discovery of wisdom.
In dark crevasses do we find true light.
For in darkness is the light fully noticed.
In darkness is the light fully embraced.
God calls us to the center of darkness yet few follow.
But to the ones that do they are invited to go far down.
To the center of the earth if they dare.
For in this search they find what is worth seeing, what few care to find.
Precious things are found in the depths.
Precious things that men place prices on.
Things more valued than what is on mountain tops.
And so the Savior went down to eventually go up.
This is why we look down in prayer.
This is why we shut or eyes in darkness in plea to what is above.
Wide is the way to destruction and narrow is the way to life.
There are few that desire to decend.
There are few that go with God into the caves.
